WA Mining Club golfers enjoy their greens
DRIVINGBUSINESS
The WA Mining Club’s annual Golf Day is always a popular fixture on the mining community’s
social calendar, and this year – to meet the increased demand – the Club held not one but two
golfing challenges. A full field of keen sportsmen and women, stepping up to test their mettle,
ably turned out to support the two days.
In March, Joondalup Resort’s sparkling golf course was again in fantastic shape, and beyond
the players enjoying the scenery and contest, the wildlife did not disappoint either, with many
local fauna inspecting the greens for a quick check before play commenced. Congratulations to
the winning four on the day: Tony McKay, Chad Botha, Bruce Maluish and Gavin Fletcher.
The Club also wishes to acknowledge event sponsors: Hays, MACA, Trafford Resources,
Mining People, KSB, Scope, Resources Equipment, Engenium, Hydratight, AMEC Minproc, AMC
Consultants, ESCO, Hitachi, Schenck Process, Kempe Engineering, Beilby, IMO, Rapid Crushing,
DRA Pacific, SMS Rental, Toll, SGS and Rugby WA for their support with this core Golf Day event.
The proceeds from the annual Golf Day are instrumental in funding the Club’s yearly student
scholarship program, which encourages the next generation of industry leaders.
This year, a second Golf Day was played in September with the money raised being
donated to the Royal Flying Doctor Service. At this event, Burswood Park Golf Course provided
a fine backdrop for the golf skills displayed by the many and varied players, and whilst
every participant felt like a winner having enjoyed a magical day of networking and friendly
competition, particular congratulations go to the actual winners of the day: Branden Kotyk,
Neil Watson and Mark Sakowski.
The Club’s appreciation also goes to Hays, Schenck Process, BDO, MWH Australia, TWSP,
Sadliers Transport, DRA Pacific, Bladon, Reed Resources, Exco Resources and BC Iron for their
sponsorship support with this Golf Day event.
Thanks to all who played and supported the objectives of the two WA Mining Club Golf Day
events, and we look forward to returning champions and new challengers taking to the greens
again in 2013.
