addresses
challenges across the minerals industry value chain and in all
commodities, to deliver benefit to the nation. The national focus
is important because the minerals industry is not always well
received by some sectors of the Australian community. Beyond
the technical challenges, there is also the critical question of the
industry’s interface with the broader national economy and its
social and environmental responsibilities. Understanding these
issues is a core part of the research program.
