WAMININGCLUB's
GOLFDAY
2013
Kangaroos share their turf for industry benefits
The WA Mining Club annual golf days are always a popular fixture on
the mining community’s social calendar, with the proceeds from the
day helping to fund the Club’s yearly student scholarship program
aimed at encouraging the next generation of industry leaders.
Once again a full field of keen sporting players stepped out on this
day in March in search of the much-prized President’s Cup, and for yet
another year the day was a great social and financial success, meeting
its objectives of providing fun and mateship for the participating
golfers, and securing funds for the ongoing scholarship program.
The course at Joondalup Resort was in great shape, and many a
local kangaroo was seen casting a discerning eye over the lush greens
before play commenced.
Congratulations to the winning four on the day: Rod Johns, Terry
Sweeney, John Minear and Michael Anderson.
The Club would like to acknowledge sponsors: Hays, Schenck
Process, AMEC, Alliance Contracting, NHP Electrical, Mining
Maintenance Solutions, BDO, Engenium, MACA, Global Surface
Mining, Hitachi, Kempe Engineering, Mining People, IMO, Schneider
Electric, DRA Pacific, Action Drill and Blast, Sedgman, Kiewit
and Beilby for their support with the Golf Day. It is only through
their contribution that this hugely popular day, with its serious
fund-raising side, can take place.
The Club thanks all who played and supported the objectives of
the WA Mining Club Golf Day this year. Planning for 2014 is now
underway, with the aim being to make the day an even bigger success,
with returning champions and new challengers taking to the greens
in support of a worthy cause and endeavouring to hold aloft the Cup.
