With a high quality gold project in a historically significant
gold mining province close to key infrastructure and the gold
mining heartland of Kalgoorlie, advanced explorer Excelsior
Gold is definitely ticking all the right boxes.
The advanced gold explorer which listed on the Australian
Securities Exchange in 2007 is in the process of bringing its
primary asset the Kalgoorlie North gold project, located 30 to
55
kilometres north of Kalgoorlie, into production.
Having successfully delineated more than 1.19 million
ounces in gold resources at Kalgoorlie North, of which almost
1
million ounces are concentrated in the Zoroastrian and
Excelsior deposits, the projects total resource currently stands
at 21.41 million tonnes grading 1.73 grams per tonne (g/t) gold
for 1.19 million ounces, with potential remaining to expand
on this resource base.
Managing director David Hamlyn said a major advantage
of the Kalgoorlie North project is its location to other quality
operations and the regional centre of Kalgoorlie, which
opens up more diverse development opportunities at lower
capital costs.
Excelsior has always maintained that the location and the
quality of its resource ounces were more important than the
sheer quantity,” Mr Hamlyn said.
Even during this downturn in the mining sector, projects
that can demonstrate a path to production with relatively low
capex still have a way forward.”
The project consists of a large contiguous land holding
covering 98 square kilometres of granted mining leases and
prospecting licences over 25 kilometre of strike of the Bardoc
Tectonic Zone.
Mr Hamlyn said the company was currently in the process
of exploring alternate development options at the project and
in particular the large Zoroastrian and Excelsior deposits
where mineralisation remains open down dip and along strike.
We believe the mineralised system at Zoroastrian to be in
excess of two kilometres in length and extend to a considerable
depth,” he said.
Mr Hamlyn went on to say that while the scale and scope
of the development may be different to that experienced in a
