WAMC gets a GM: welcome Nichola Nugent

The WA Mining Club reached a new milestone this month with the addition of full-time General Manager, Nichola Nugent.

“The Mining Club has a rich history of dedicated volunteers who have helped build the Club into what it is today – an industry-relevant and progressive association that values opportunities to network, exchange ideas and generally have a good time with likeminded individuals.

“But as volunteers, the Club has reached a point of maturity where there is a need for a full-time resource to continue to drive the Club forward – not dissimilar to our peers and colleagues at the Petroleum Club, AMEC, CMEWA, WASM Alumni and more.

“We are in incredibly safe hands with Nichola – she brings considerable experience working with member-based organisations. Has strong capability across stakeholder relations, event management and brings incredible business acumen to our Club,” said WA Mining Club President, Kirsty Danby.

Nichola brings a wealth of experience to the role gathered from other not-for-profit organisations such as the Leeuwin Ocean Adventure Foundation and Senses Australia.

Recently Nichola headed up a campaign to replace the all of the Leeuwin’s wet weather gear to ensure that young trainees are kept warm and dry for years to come.

“I’m pleased to be joining as General Manager of the WA Mining Club. The opportunity to participate in the Club’s growth while respecting its legacy is exciting and I look forward to working with other stakeholders within the Club as we build upon what has already been achieved over the last 47 years.

“While I hope to meet all the members that I can at our regular luncheons and other events, I also welcome you to reach out with any feedback, questions, suggestions or just to say hello,” said Nichola.
