skies; Hewitt’s translucent turquoise image reveals a delicacy of colour
and texture recognised only by those that know and love the region.
The photographers spent a lot of time around the Burrup Peninsula,
part of the Dampier Archipelago, during the making of
52 Weeks On
.
They were all fascinated by the intriguing industrial forms offered by
the variety of mining operations at work in the area – from iron ore to
salt to gas and related industries.
The aesthetics of salt operations around Dampier and Port Hedland
proved particularly popular with the photographers, who amassed a
collection of images which at times looked more like powdery snowfields
