Geology scholarship
Full scholarship by WA Mining Club
A 2013 Geology Scholarship has been awarded
to Carina Daly. After growing up in South Australia,
Carina moved to WA where she is currently enrolled in
a degree in applied geology and environmental biology
at the WA School of Mines. She is President of the
WASM Bentley student body and the WASM Wallabies.
Carina intends to gain a job in mineral exploration or
mining geology upon completion of her degree.
Metallurgy scholarship

Alex Williams has been awarded one of two Metallurgy
Scholarships for 2013. Alex is enrolled at Curtin
University undertaking a double degree in chemistry
and extractive metallurgy. He is a keen sports person
who loves the outdoors, and is looking forward to
hands-on work in the mining industry. Alex hopes
to absorb different aspects of the industry and would
like to travel to different locations in the process.

A 2013 Metallurgy Scholarship has been awarded
to Dewi Octavia. Growing up in Indonesia, Dewi had
the opportunity to pursue higher education in Australia.
By chance, Dewi selected a mineral processing elective
subject in the final year of a chemical engineering
degree and excelled in it. She is currently pursuing
a higher degree in extractive metallurgy, and will then
seek an internship opportunity to fulfil her interest
in metallurgy and mineral processing.

David Pearce has been awarded one of two Geology
Scholarships for 2013. Raised in Perth and Kalgoorlie,
David developed a genuine appreciation for the
minerals industry. Pursuing his passion for geology
and prospecting, he enrolled at Curtin University
in 2011 and began working in a geological engineering
laboratory as a soil technician. David will complete
his honours project in 2014, and looks forward to
a fulfilling career in the mining industry.
