heavenly bodies of Herculean proportions
DT HiLoad Australia manufactures
and supplies mining haul truck bodies
and mobile mining equipment for
minesites and contractors globally. It
is an Australian company specialising
in the design and manufacture of the
Hercules dump truck body, which is a
uniquely engineered tray for off-road,
rear tipping, mining and quarry trucks.
From its manufacturing facility in
Perth, Western Australia, DT Australia
supplies to customers around the globe,
including Newmont, Barrick Gold,
Peabody Energy, Newcrest Mining,
Xstrata, Cliffs Natural Resources and
Consolidated Minerals, and contractors
like BGC, HSE Mining, Mackella Mining
and Ausdrill Mining Services.
From small beginnings in 2003,
DT Australia has become a substantial
player capable of manufacturing all
products in-house. The company’s
engineering team will custom design
a haul truck body and other products
to suit the specific mining conditions
of each customer, thus allowing costs
to be minimised.
DT Australia employs a skilled
workforce committed to manufacturing
excellence, and the company counts
innovation, excellent products,
customer focus and on-time deliveries
amongst its significant strengths.
Through global and local recruitment
and outstanding apprenticeship training,
the specialist team delivers consistently
high standards of workmanship at all
stages of production, and by providing
regular training, skills audits, mentoring
and a commitment to best safety
practice, DT Australia raises the bar
for manufacturing excellence.
Meet WAMC Member – Richard Lang

YOU
KNOW
DID
DT Australia can produce up to 200 mining haul truck bodies per annum, can deliver anywhere
in the world, and have done so to Africa, Zambia, Tanzania, Papua New Guinea and Australia.
As DT Australia’s Chief Executive Officer, Richard Lang knows the proverbial buck stops with him.
A self-confessed “meddler in everything”, Richard’s responsibilities revolve around staff development,
building teamwork, maintaining the organisation’s direction and ensuring customer focus.
Richard loves to build things, and DT Australia make an impressively large number of things; from
100
tonne mining haul truck bodies to monster versions for 300 tonne class trucks weighing in at 40 tonnes.
Considering his achievements at DT Australia to date, Richard is proud to have led the company from
small importer status to being a substantial manufacturer and design company with broad skill sets.
Richard also enjoys managing people, and remarks, “It is great to wander through a happy workshop and
share peoples’ pride in what they have produced”. And when things are not going so well? Richard advises,
Stay calm in a crisis. All the facts will come out in good time. Steer a steady course”.
Richard has been a member for a year, and finds WAMC events excellent – especially the opportunity they
provide to network with like-minded people, and the information the speaker presentations provide about resource projects.
