In his role as Managing Director at Openet, Andrew Monteiro applies his 20+ years of experience in the
ICT sector to guide his team, providing strategic direction and establishing systems for his people to manage
while also contributing to IT solutions architecture. If Andrew has any spare time after that demanding list
of duties, he jokes that he spends the rest of his time “shuffling paperwork, cleaning up the office, washing
dishes, and trying to maintain his sanity!”.
Andrew regards building a culture of knowledge, where every team member is focused on professional
development and the sharing of knowledge with fellow team members, as one of the greatest achievements
to date for him and his company. When asked for advice, Andrew warns against trying to be all things to
all people. “Understand what you are good at, and then focus on becoming even better at it”, advises Andrew.
Andrew has been a member of the WA Mining Club since 2008, and finds it a great way to stay in touch
with people and developments in the WA mining scene.

of green field developments, and is
currently working on the design and
implementation of ICT systems for
new mine projects such as Norton
Gold Fields’ Enterprise mine near
Ora Banda and Sinosteel Midwest’s
Blue Hills project.
