Orway Mineral Consultants (OMC)
provides comminution processing
expertise and hydrometallurgical services
to the mining industry. Specialising in
the process design of comminution
circuits, OMC is a world leader in
simulation modelling of crushing,
grinding and fine grinding circuits
as well as grinding efficiency and
project economics. The company has
hydrometallurgical expertise in leaching
and extraction, with the practical
knowledge to convert complex
chemistry into engineered processes.
OMC operates in just about every
region globally with personnel travelling
the globe assisting its clients to resolve
crushing and grinding problems; “If it
has a mill, we’ve probably looked at it”.
With comminution circuits incurring a
significant proportion of operating costs,
practical operations experience and
circuit modelling allow optimisations of
existing comminution circuits to ensure
the lowest unit costs per tonne milled.
OMC also provides expertise in
flotation, leaching and gravity separation
across all commodities including gold,
nickel, copper, mineral sands, uranium
and iron ore.

OMC started in 1983 and is now recognised as a world leader in comminution technology,
with over 27 years experience in crushing and grinding.
The team at OMC is dedicated and hard working, with each member bringing a different skill set to the table.
The work is diverse, and staff have the flexibility to chase work in whatever areas they like. Overseeing the
team’s workflow and work focus is Leigh Siddall, one of OMC’s Principal Process Engineers and Directors of
the company.
With OMC’s main strength being the application of practical solutions to problems, and the clear presentation
of this information in client reports, Leigh ensures that quality results are delivered. He enjoys bringing an
engineering perspective to the process work, as well as specialising in a niche area like comminution where
big decisions are made on a wide range of projects.
Leigh travels the globe to participate in world-class projects. The decisions he makes sets these projects in
good stead, and in turn gives him a strong and rewarding sense of professional achievement.
On a more personal level, the places that Leigh sees, and the people that he meets on his travels, often
elevate his sense of appreciation for calling WA home. “When I visit mines in remote places, the people I meet are always friendly and
welcoming but it brings home how lucky we in Western Australia”, says Leigh.
Leigh has been involved in the WA Mining Club for 12 years. He assisted in organising the St Barbara’s Day events when his father,
Bernie Siddall, was President of the Club.
