Nick Hollens is a Partner in the Audit and Assurance division of Somes Cooke and has over 15 years
experience in these areas. He was formerly a director in a number of Big Four firms specialising in the
audit of large listed entities and multi-national corporations. Before relocating to Perth in 2005, he worked
in London, Singapore and Sydney.
Nick believes that trust and open communication underpins a successful working relationship. Both he
and the firm aim to be trusted members of the client decision-making team, in order to understand where
the client is now, where they want to be and how Somes Cooke can help them get there. In this way, Nick
and his team can shape an action plan to meet clients’ defined goals, stay in close contact and, ultimately,
deliver real and tangible financial value.
Qualifying as a Chartered Accountant in the UK and Australia has been one of Nick’s greatest professional
achievement to date. In his career, he has found that climbing the corporate ladder can be fraught with danger
and that people should be worried of “smiling assassins”. That said, Nick believes that most people are more good than bad and they
simply want strong decisive leadership.
As a recently joined member, Nick recognises the enormous opportunities to network and learn at WA Mining Club events and to
contribute to a fantastic industry, which is the backbone of the country.
