Walkabout is currently exploring in
Botswana and Tanzania – two highly
prospective and safe destinations
in Africa, both with advanced mining
and exploration industries.
Through its strategy of exploring
diverse commodities, the company
intends to explore and develop a
platform of three advanced projects:
Kigoma (copper) and Makete (platinum)
in underexplored Tanzania, and coal in
Botswana. In this well positioned and
emerging coal province, Walkabout
has defined 6.9 billion tonnes of thermal
coal at the Takatokwane project.
Walkabout Resources recently changed
its name from Nimrodel Resources as part
of a revised branding and strategy
change from being a single commodity
company working in coal in Botswana
to a diverse exploration company
operating in Botswana and Tanzania.

The iconic Australian name ‘Walkabout’ was chosen to better reflect the new strategy of bringing
Aussie know-how to African opportunity and highlight the company’s passion for field-based exploration.
As Managing Director of Walkabout Resources, Allan Mulligan develops and implements corporate
strategy, and leads a team of highly motivated professionals committed to building shareholder value.
His responsibilities include corporate compliance, project acquisition and development, negotiations
and agreements, investor relations and capital raising, whilst his other leadership duties include creating
a strong employee and company culture, and developing Walkabout as a first choice employer.
As an Africanophile (a person who loves the African continent), Allan also thrives on the challenges
the mining industry presents, and putting funding and opportunity together to create value and wealth.
Allan counts building a winning team of people that will ultimately lead to Walkabout’s success, as well
as acquiring a suite of high quality projects, as a key career achievement to date.
Allan is a strong believer in being true to yourself, explaining that you must know yourself and build on
your strengths, but as your career develops you should cultivate a management and leadership style that
reflects your own true values, not what others think you should be.
A member of the WA Mining Club for what Allan calls “seven valuable years”, he regards it as excellent for networking and respects
the way the Club has grown in a short time, from small lunch sessions to the huge series of events and industry presence that
distinguishes it today.
