WILLIS AUSTRALIA
Willis is a leading global risk advisor,
insurance and reinsurance broker.
With roots dating to 1828, Willis
offers clients superior expertise,
teamwork, innovation and market-
leading products and professional
services in risk management and
transfer. The company’s experts rank
among the world’s leading
authorities on analytics, modelling
and mitigation strategies at the
intersection of global commerce and
extreme events.
The company’s dedication to its
clients’ success stretches back 185 years.
From the dawn of an industry, it helped
establish the intricate, interwoven and
global state of the insurance sector today.
Willis was the insurance broker to the
Titanic, the Hindenburg, the Moon Buggy
and the first commercial A380 flight.
Today it operates on every continent,
with more than 17,000 employees in
over 400 offices, and clients ranging
from large multinationals to junior
explorers and contractors.
The company lives by
The Willis Cause
,
driving it to deliver the world’s best
risk management advice and service,
and setting it apart from other global
brokers and smaller firms that cannot
match its size, scope and specialisation.
Willis delivers four straightforward
commitments to clients: to thoroughly
understand their needs and industries;
to develop client solutions with the
best markets, prices and terms;
to deliver quality client service; and to
get claims paid quickly – with integrity.
Neil Watson is Willis’ WA Manager of Mining and Construction Risks. As such, he provides insurance
and risk management solutions to clients in or associated with the resources sector, based on a considered
program of risk profiling, insurance advice and policy placement into the Australian and world markets.
Being part of an international insurance broker means Neil is involved with more complex and interesting
clients, whilst fully supported by a worldwide group of professionals within the organisation. His greatest
achievement at Willis to date has been taking over the client management role of an ‘at risk’ client and
successfully retaining the business.
Considering lessons learned, Neil believes an important one is realising the value of integrity. “It is
the one element that cannot be taken away from you – so protect it in everything you do”, says Neil.
Having been involved with the WAMC Committee since 2007, Neil has been President since
September 2010. He enjoys working with the Club’s dedicated and hardworking Committee who work
on a voluntary basis to help make the WA Mining Club as successful as it is. “I also value meeting other like-minded professionals
associated with the resources sector who are keen to help each other succeed”, remarks Neil.
