As Managing Director of Austral Risk Services, Steve Halbert is responsible for planning the company’s
strategic direction and overseeing the stewardship of Austral’s clients. Since 2004 he has been an Austral
Director with a portfolio of commercial and corporate clients together with responsibility for new business
development. Steve became Managing Director in 2008.
Operating for nearly 30 years as an independently owned company, Austral is looking forward to continued
growth. Steve says the management team has focused on creating and maintaining a culture that puts their
clients first and foremost, and he is proud of their ability for being agile and cutting-edge in the services
they offer. He comments “With three non-executive directors from diverse backgrounds on the Austral Board,
it enhances innovative thinking and adds another layer to our corporate governance”.
Steve nominates that his greatest lesson in professional life is to always stay true to yourself and your word,
even when you are faced with serious consequences for the choices that you are making.
Steve has been a member of the WA Mining Club since early 2013, and has attended many Club events as a guest. He finds the monthly
luncheons beneficial for meeting professionals within the resource sector, and appreciates hearing about the successes and challenges
of mining projects.
