A proud history with a
sustainable vision for the future.
Wesfarmers Premier Coal operates by best practice
in environment and safety with a commitment to
sustainability. It is committed to supplying the Western
Australian electricity market with a reliable, secure and
competitive fuel source using both conventional and
new low emissions coal technologies.
Involvement in the local and wider community.
Supporting community growth and prosperity, careful
planning and best rehabilitation practices are steering
the future of Wesfarmers Premier Coal as a leader in
the resource industry in Western Australia.
Australia and China will enjoy mutual wide-ranging
economic, social and community benefits from the project.
It will add an estimated $75 billion in export income to the
Australian economy over 25 years and directly contribute about
$3.3 billion in royalties to the state. There will be millions of
dollars directed into social and environmental initiatives over
the life of the project.
“The Sino Iron project is a truly unique, immensely
challenging and exciting project”, CITIC Pacific Mining’s
Executive Chairman Dr Dongyi Hua says.
“Unlike Australia, China has a long history of mining and
processing magnetite and the transfer of this knowledge,
innovation and technology is helping in the development of a
new emerging magnetite industry for WA.
“The Sino Iron project is a result of China’s rapid economic
and industrial expansion that has altered international
trade, investment and production patterns at regional and
global levels.
“It is a first-hand example of how this growth can be of
benefit to Australia, particularly the resources sector in WA.”
CITIC Pacific Mining is committed to being a good corporate
citizen by partnering with not-for-profit organisations to deliver
quality social and environmental programs and long lasting
benefits to the communities in which it operates.
Most recently CPM has joined with KULCHA Multicultural
Arts of Western Australia in a three-year corporate partnership
to promote cultural diversity through the arts. KULCHA works
with musicians, dancers, visual artists and performers from
many different cultures to enhance the vibrancy of WA and
offers multicultural arts events and activities that enrich the
lives of many people every week. The partnership will promote
the growing diversity in our society and encourage greater
social inclusion, cultural appreciation, respect and harmony
in the community. Under the arrangement, a number of events
will be held to recognise important cultural events such as
Harmony Week and Chinese New Year.
